SteriShoe Safely, Effectively Sanitizes Shoes with Ultraviolet Light

With over 250,000 sweat glands, the human foot can quickly turn a shoe into a warm, damp breeding ground for fungi and bacteria.

Fungi and bacteria thrive in this environment and are the cause athlete’s foot, toenail fungus and odor. These conditions are often embarrassing and painful, and can be especially dangerous for people with diabetes and for those with compromised immune systems.
SteriShoe
Doctors recognize that footwear is a common cause of infections and re-infections for athlete’s foot and toenail fungus. Treating the infections isn’t enough, because the microorganisms that cause them linger and multiply in shoes. However, the good news is that even after fungi and bacteria gain a good foothold in your shoes, you can still fight back.

The SteriShoe shoe sanitizer is the first of its kind: a patented device that uses germicidal UVC light to safely and effectively sanitize the inside of shoes, neutralizing the microbes that commonly cause athlete’s foot, toenail fungus and odor. For decades, this type of light has been effective in killing germs and sanitizing hospitals and water treatment systems. Likewise, the UVC light emitted by SteriShoe has been proven clinically effective in sanitizing shoes.

SteriShoe serves as an important component of a complete foot treatment regimen that protects against these common foot conditions. It’s particularly recommended for people with diabetes whose health depends on daily foot care to prevent the risk of infections that can lead to ulcers and, in severe cases, amputation.

How SteriShoe Works

The SteriShoe is sold in pairs and fits into a shoe like a shoetree. With the press of a button it begins a 45-minute treatment cycle, which eliminates up to 99.9% of the fungi and bacteria that cause toenail fungus, athlete’s foot and shoe odor. SteriShoe is designed with safety features that prevent UVC exposure—it’s equipped with sensors that prevent it from turning on outside a shoe, and bags are provided to prevent UVC exposure when the SteriShoe is used in open-toe shoes.

SteriShoe is recommended by doctors and is an effective, chemical-free method for killing fungi, fungal spores and bacteria that lurk in shoes. And, as the UVC light emitted by SteriShoe kills these disease-causing microbes, it also eliminates the bacteria that cause odor.
